Need a Boost of Serotonin?✨

Jun 07, 2022

Hey there!

Whether you are having a challenging life event, or it is simply a "meh" kind of day...sometimes you just need to have an extra boost of serotonin to get you through. But, what exactly do you do to achieve that little something extra? The good news is there are actually scientifically backed activities that have been proven to help reduce the risk of depression, increase your sense of purpose, and more!

Now the best thing to do, in my opinion, is to take a few minutes to sit down and make a list of what brings you joy! Everyone is different, so some activities will bring more joy to you than others. If you have a hard time getting started, here is a quick list to get you started!

  • Start a gratitude journal -   People who express gratitude on a regular basis feel more optimistic and positive about life.
  • Go for a walk - While going outside can be the last thing you feel like doing when you just want to stay in bed, it’s important to give it a go!
  • Help someone - The simple act of helping a stranger carry their shopping to the car, making someone dinner, or driving a friend to the doctor can provide positive benefits to your health.
  • Get into the Sunshine - Just remember to pop on some SPF before you head out.
  • Read a book - Apart from being a brilliant way to escape to another time, place or dimension, reading is also a great way to de-stress and relax.

Be sure to take the time to find some joy & calm each day! It truly does make a difference. And if you or someone you know is truly struggling it may be best to speak to a mental health professional to work out a plan of action.

Best,
