Join Me for a Full Length Exercise Class🧡

Nov 01, 2022

Hey there!

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a non functional PT exercise VS. a functional exercise?🤨 Let me give you an example!

A very common physical therapy exercise for your hip flexors is the straight leg raise! This is where you lay flat on the table, with your foot flexed, and you slowly lift your leg up & down. But, when you have MS your brain may not translate this exercise into a way to help with your walking.

The way to strengthen your hip flexors in a functional way that WILL help you improve strength in your walking is by doing standing marching. By doing the exercise this way your brain then understands that you need this strength in order to take a step forward.

There are lots of ways that MS specialized physical therapy is different orthopedic PT. This is just one example☺️

I'd like to invite you to join me for a FREE multiple sclerosis specific exercise class! This is full length class that is chock full of functional MS specific exercises, and in this class we focus on the improvement of foot drop!

This is a class that I offer weekly! And each week focuses on a different area of the body to help strengthen, promote stability, and better balance!

1. Connect with me on YouTube - Subscribe to my Dr. Gretchen YouTube page where you will be able to find MS specific exercises, research updates, guest speakers, and MORE!

2. Join The MSing Link Community - The MSing Link is my online MS wellness program where you'll find video demonstrations and explanations of MS-specific exercises for strengthening, walking, balance, and flexibility. There are also videos for activity-specific movements such as getting into/out of bed or a car, standing up from the ground, sitting down with more control, stair climbing, etc. Since this program focuses on the whole person and not just exercise, we have monthly live guest speakers (ie: neurologists, podiatrists, nutritionists, etc.) and research updates.

3. Work with me privately - I offer 30 minute and 60 minute wellness consults via Zoom. This is an opportunity for you to share your story with MS and your goals. I'm able to educate you on MS-specific exercises for walking, general mobility, transfers, and day-to-day activities (ie: getting into/out of a car, stair climbing, etc.). You can schedule a one-time call or you can schedule recurring calls - your choice. Oftentimes, people will schedule one of these calls prior to joining The MSing Link and/or one call every couple of months. Schedule here
